DAN PROMOTION BY EXAMINATION FORM – Shin Kaze Aikido Alliance

Dear Dojocho,
Welcome to the Shin Kaze online registration form for Dan promotions by examination. Before completing this form for a dan promotion and before carrying out the examination, please take some time to ensure that the candidate has fulfilled all the r equirements for the rank they are being promoted to.

INSTRUCTIONS

THE OVERALL PROCESS
The overall process is as follows.

As dojo-cho, you fill and then submit this form to process your students’ dan promotions.
After submitting the form, the information it contains is validated and if any issues are found, you are prompted to correct them.
Once all the information has been validated, it is saved in the database as a record.
The process is repeated for all students to be promoted, a request for dan certificates is sent to Hombu and an invoice is sent to you.
Once you receive the invoice please pay it promptly. Hombu prepares the certificates, sends them to Shin Kaze, who in turn sends them to the dojo-cho to be distributed to their students.

Complete this form for each student to be promoted, and then click on the “Submit” button.
Not all fields are *required, however wherever possible please complete even non-required fields. Please make sure all fields that are *required are accurate, especially dates. Fields 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 30 and 31 are required in order for Hombu Dojo to complete the certificate.
If the candidate is 1st Kyu and being promoted to Shodan, you will not have an Aikikai Membership number or Registration Date or Hombu Membership number. In that case, use the available placeholders for those fields and in the date field you can use the date of the promotion.
The Dojo Name and Dojo ID# are really important, as they connect the student’s information to the dojo. Make sure you select the correct Dojo ID# to match the one in theDojo Name field just above it.
The minimum number of days/years of practice required since the previous promotion are built into the validation process, and must be met so the form is not rejected. These are as follows:

Dan Rank	Examination (minimum days/years practice)	Examiner Requirements
Shodan	300 days since 1st Kyu	2nd Dan or above.
Nidan	600 days since Shodan	3rd Dan or above.
Sandan	700 days since Nidan	4th Dan or above.
Yondan	800 days since Sandan	6th Dan or above.
